General

  • All matches shall be played in accordance with the latest Rules of Hockey issued by the International Hockey Federation (FIH).
  • Tournament regulations issued by the organiser shall apply where applicable.
  • Teams must arrive at the venue at least 30 minutes before the scheduled match time.
  • Only registered players and officials are permitted in the team bench area.
  • All players must wear approved protective equipment as required under FIH rules.
  • Jewellery and dangerous equipment are strictly prohibited during matches.

Match

  • Each match shall consist of four (4) quarters.
  • Quarter duration shall be determined by the tournament organiser.
  • A minimum of seven (7) players is required for a team to start and continue a match.
  • If a team is reduced to fewer than seven (7) players, the match shall be abandoned.
  • Substitutions are permitted at any time in accordance with FIH substitution rules.
  • Rolling substitutions shall apply unless otherwise stated.
  • Match officials’ decisions are final and binding.

Discipline

  • Disciplinary control shall be in accordance with FIH Rules of Hockey and tournament regulations.
  • Green Card results in a formal warning and temporary suspension as determined by the umpire.
  • Yellow Card results in a minimum 5-minute temporary suspension.
  • Red Card results in permanent suspension from the match.
  • Any player or official receiving a Red Card shall be reported to the Tournament Director or Technical Committee.
  • The Tournament Director / Technical Committee reserves the right to impose further disciplinary action.
  • Serious misconduct on or off the field may result in suspension, fines, or expulsion from the tournament.

Discipline

The following demerit points will be enforced for disciplinary actions taken during the course of the TNB Penang Hockey League.

  • Green Card: 2 demerit points.
  • Yellow Card: 4 demerit points.
  • Red Card: 8 demerit points.

Mandatory disciplinary actions based on accumulated demerit points:

  • 8 demerit points: 1-match suspension.
  • 16 demerit points: 1-match suspension.
  • 24 demerit points: 1-match suspension.
  • 32 demerit points: Suspension for the rest of the league.

Green card demerit points will not be taken into consideration for suspension calculations.

Interpretation:

  • If a player accumulates 8 demerit points, he/she shall serve a 1-match suspension.
  • Demerit points are cumulative and are not wiped out after suspension.
  • Upon reaching 16 demerit points, an additional 1-match suspension shall be served.
  • This calculation continues for subsequent levels.

1. The TD/TC shall have the authority to suspend a player who receives a permanent suspension for more than one match, depending on the seriousness of the offence.

2. The Tournament Officer (TO) on duty has the authority to remove any player or official from the team bench for misconduct.

3. The offending individual shall be referred to the TD/TC for further disciplinary action.

4. The TC has the authority to refer any player or official to the PSHADC for breaches of discipline, on or off the field.
